Anyone who has ever despaired over complex texts knows how marginalising language can be. That's why KLAO combines human expertise with artificial intelligence to break down barriers through easy language and enable people with learning difficulties to participate. Because everyone has a right to information.

KLAO supports public institutions in translating texts in plain language in an efficient, DIN-compliant and inclusive manner - by combining a digital platform, AI-supported translation, collaboration with reviewers and certification in one interface.

KLAO was born out of a real challenge: the search for a way to reliably translate large volumes of text into plain language. Existing solutions were not sufficient: professional agencies and translation service providers are simply too expensive and AI tools worked efficiently, but without the involvement of people with learning difficulties. This meant that a central component of DIN SPEC 33429 and a fundamental idea of special needs education was missing: genuine participation. In response to this gap, KLAO developed a new, inclusive approach that combines technological innovation with human expertise and actively involves people with learning difficulties.
