Qualification / extension in the teaching profession
Education for the visually impaired (specialisation in vision) as a qualifying course as part of the teaching degree for special education
The degree programme in Pedagogy for the Visually Impaired (focus on vision) as a qualifying course (minor subject) as part of the Teacher Training Programme for Special Needs Education comprises 30 ECTS credits.
The qualification programme addresses fundamental aspects of the living conditions of visually impaired people in theory and practice. The programme develops the pedagogical and didactic approaches and concepts in the school and extracurricular fields of action that are relevant in this context. It also deals with approaches and concepts for reducing general barriers to learning in order to create open and accessible lessons for as many learners as possible.
The qualification (minor subject) can also be studied as an extension subject in the teaching degree programme. This offer also appears to be particularly attractive for students of other teaching qualifications. Within the special education specialisms, visually impaired children and young people are among the learners who achieve the widest spread across all types of school. The 1st state examination is taken together with the students of the qualification programme (minor subject), which is why voluntary attendance of the corresponding courses (30 ECTS) is recommended.
