Teaching for Special Education with the Erstes Staatsexamen (first state examination degree)

You have to choose one of the following Special Education subjects. In contrast to other states in Germany, you can only study one Special Education subject in Bavaria, an extension (‘qualification’) is possible if applicable, though; Ask our  expert advisers, if required. You finish your studies after nine semesters, having achieved the Erstes Staatsexamen (first state examination) ‘Lehramt für Sonderpädagogik’. The second phase of the teacher training enables you for:

  • Education for People with Learning Disabilities (L)
  • Education for People with Physical and Complex Disabilities (K)
  • Speech and Language Pathology (S)
  • Education for People with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (G)
  • Education for People with Emotional and Behavioural Disorders (V)

You can find the study plans (SVP) for these five Special Education subjects adjacent to this text. The SVP are subdivided into semesters and show which modules or events (lectures or seminars) you should attend in one particular semester - if possible. The SVP should only be seen as suggestions, though. This means, that you can also attend an event, assigned to a higher semester, in particular cases. Please note that this is not possible with all seminars, because there are preconditions for some of them. These, as well as the descriptions of the modules, can be found in the module books.

Important: Your studies “Teaching Special Needs Education” also include the didactics-subjects and the Educational Sciences. There are additional SVPs for these subjects. The three parts (Special Education, didactics-subjects, Educational Science) have to be connected self-dependent.
